Situation: The leaders of two interdependent teams had major conflicts about how work should get done, who would be responsible, and what each should be held accountable for.

Approach: We began with individual coaching sessions for both leaders, focused on their own styles of leadership, the needs of their respective teams, and the issue as they saw it. We then created a join task force, aimed at defining their collective “why” and how it connected to the organization’s mission. Representatives from both teams met regularly over a week-long working session to create a joint playbook complete with priorities, actions, assignments, and owners.

Result: Increased cooperation and alignment across both teams spread throughout the organization. The work that required the input and contribution from both teams got done better, faster, and with higher quality.
